3D-Printed Luxury Handrails in an Amsterdam Store
In a recent project for a luxury store in Amsterdam, PARAMETRIC.solutions* crafted an exquisite series of custom 3D-printed handrails that seamlessly blend computational design with high-end interior aesthetics. This project was a showcase of precision, elegance, and cutting-edge digital craftsmanship, combining innovative techniques with a commitment to luxury.
Automated Design and Precise Production
To create the handrails, we developed a specialized Grasshopper script that automated the design process based on a 3D scan of the store’s existing staircase rails. This script generated perfectly fitted handrail designs that were then prepared for production with meticulous attention to detail. Each section was carefully segmented into optimal lengths for 3D printing, ensuring smooth and seamless joins during installation. Once printed, these parts were assembled into continuous sections, tailored to the maximum lengths allowed by the high-quality leather used for the finish.
Elegance in Material and Finish
The final touch involved wrapping the handrails in luxurious leather in beige and blue tones, accented with subtle gold details that run throughout the store’s design. This color scheme brings a sophisticated, modern aesthetic to the space, creating an inviting and opulent atmosphere. The combination of rich textures and precision design has transformed these handrails into standout design elements that reflect the luxury brand’s identity.
